Co-dependency / Relationship Addiction Counselling

Attachment theory and family of origin issues are examined to reveal unhealthy coping mechanisms that are causing us distress and despair presently in our internal world and relationships. We learn through exploration of how making others responsible for our emotional state doesn’t work and begin to shift toward autonomy, self-responsibility, and embracing life’s flow.

Trauma Counselling and Post-traumatic Growth

Experiencing trauma creates protective parts systems within us to cope. Together we will explore each of your parts, how they interact with one another as they do the hard work to safeguard your Self-energy. The invitation is to learn about our internal world for integration and reconciliation of unhealed trauma and improve our connection with the external world.

Loving Someone with Substance Abuse Disorder / Addiction

It can be excruciating watching a loved one make self-destructive choices. We try to help them, and it only seems to make things worse. Stigma isolates us and we don’t know where to turn. Boundaries are identified so we realize where our limits are while protecting the relationship with our loved one. We learn recovery is as unique as the individual and can look quite different than the abstinence-model we are accustomed to. We love the person as they are and not the person we wish them to be by being focused on relationship preservation.

Our life and circumstances begin to improve when we stop treating our loved one as a problem that needs to be fixed and redirect our attention back to our holistic health.

Grief and Loss - Anticipatory and Realized, Including Non-death Losses

Much of our grief comes from non-death losses. Some of us are experiencing anticipatory grief, bracing for the worst pain to come. Some of us are processing a realized loss of a death of a loved one. The only way out is through. When we find safe ways to connect with and express our grief in a way that works for us, we can reconcile our relationship with the loss and move toward healing.

‘How to Leave a Narcissistic Relationship’
Online Workshop

This workshop was created for people living with Afraid to Leave, Afraid to Stay Syndrome.

Participants are invited to replace denial with radical acceptance of their challenging relationship(s) in Module 1 “The Awakening”. Feelings of fear and uncertainty at the idea of leaving the relationship are addressed with the concept of holistic safety planning in Module 2 “The Freefall”. Unfortunately, leaving a challenging relationship is not easy, and closure could be unlikely. What you could potentially face post-relationship is explored in Module 3 “The Long Game”. The effects of narcissistic abuse are very real and the steps for holistic recovery are delved into in Module 4 “The Comeback”.

At no time in this workshop series are participants asked to commit to leaving their challenging relationships prematurely or at all. The goal for participants is connection with others in similar circumstances breaking isolation and to explore what leaving may look like with the ultimate choice to leave or stay being respected as a private and highly personalized one.
